Professional Biography My work in public policy mediation, faciliation, consulting, systems design innovations, and leadership coaching started while I was in law school studying alternatives to litigation. I have been fortunate to work with some of the best and brightest professionals and leaders. For more than twenty years, I have been a practitioner and advocate of consensus building and mediated negotiation to address complex, public policy disputes locally, statewide, regionally, nationally and transboundary. My first major mediation was 17 years ago. The mediation was a three year process for the NJ Governor's Council on Emergency Medical Services. The dozens of satkeholders collaborated to save federal funds while also developing consensus on the resdesign of the major components of the state EMS. An op-ed feature observed in 1987, " These discussions could have bogged down in petty rivalries and competititon. Instead, the mediation process and the mediator (name mentioned), helped bridge gaps in communication and guide the council toward consensus. This is how government works when it works well." Over the years, I have mediated, faciltiated, consulted, assessed disputes, designed processes, and helped stakeholders find consensus on a variety of contentious debates.
