Professional Biography Todd Bryan, Ph.D., has worked in the environmental field for over 30 years and has spent almost 20 years as a mediator, facilitator and trainer. Todd works with governments, non-governmental organizations, industry, and communities, where he designs, manages and facilitates collaborative approaches to environmental decision-making. Todd specializes in ecosystem management, water resources, resource extraction, and sustainable development. Todd also teaches popular negotiation and mediation skills at the graduate level. His courses in the School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado-Denver were the most popular in the curriculum for 17 years. His environmental mediation course at the University of Michigan has been continually oversubscribed since 1998.Todd's professional strengths are in assessing and explaining complex technical and social situations and in designing and facilitating processes that address such situations. His facilitation style is adaptive in that he assesses what stakeholders need and responds appropriately. Todd has a BS in Agriculture from the University of Kentucky, MS degrees in Water Resources Management and Landscape Architecture from the University of Wisconsin, a MPA from Harvard, and a PhD from the University of Michigan. Todd’s pioneering doctoral research is on identity-based environmental conflict. His dissertation, which won numerous awards, analyzes a controversial logging conflict in the northern Sierras.
