Professional Biography Finding common ground and establishing relationships motivate my work and inform my style. I believe strongly in “doing the homework” and being thoroughly prepared on the issues and participants’ views. The combination of a journalism background and legal training has sharpened my ability to listen actively and report quickly and accurately. These skills have enabled me to assist groups to find their way through complex issues and widely diverging viewpoints. I have led or participated in dispute resolution ranging from negotiated rulemaking to legislative consensus building to strategic planning and policy dialogue.  I have also moderated numerous panel discussions and public forums, some involving angry and vocal participants. Successful outcomes have resulted from honoring the views of participants, feeding back accurately what the group has said, using humor and concrete examples, and employing substantive knowledge of environmental and resource management law and policy.
