Professional Biography The best information for my work is located at: http://ncinfo.iog.unc.edu/programs/dispute I work collaboratively with private consultants, federal, state and local government officials, university-based providers and community mediation centers to address public dispute resolution needs in North Carolina. Through a mix of individual and joint work, I train providers;consult with local, state and federal government officials; assess situations for appropriate dispute resolution approaches; and prepare case summaries and evaluations of NC public disputes.My combination of a Ph.D. in Conflict Resolution [George Mason University], government service at the federal [U.S. Congress] and state level [Ohio Commission on Dispute Resolution], and experiences ranging from community/local government service provision conflicts [land use regulation, fire/emergency services, water/sewage systems] to large-scale value-laden divisions [facilitation of dialogues in the United Methodist Church over homosexuality] offers disputants a flexible range of capabilities.Finally, a co-authored book, Reaching for Higher Ground in Conflict Resolution [Jossey-Bass, 2000] addresses ways to build effective long-term groups among diverse interests.
