Professional Biography Sandy Schuman has been helping groups work more effectively to solve complex problems and make critical decisions for more than thirty years. He facilitates problem-solving and decision-making processes for a wide variety of public management and policy issues and provides training in group facilitation, decision making, systems thinking, conflict management, public involvement, information management, and organizational storytelling. He has extensive experience with environmental management and policy issues (including water, energy, waste, toxic materials, and natural disasters), health, insurance, and social service issues, administrative systems, and information resource management. Sandy is president of Executive Decision Services LLC and former associate at the University at Albany, SUNY. For more than ten years he served as moderator of the "Electronic Discussion on Group Facilitation" and Editor-in-Chief of "Group Facilitation: A Research and Applications Journal." His books include "The IAF Handbook of Group Facilitation," "Creating a Culture of Collaboration," and "Working with Difficult Groups," all published by Jossey-Bass/Wiley. He helped found the International Decision Conferencing Forum and the New York State Forum on Conflict and Consensus. His articles have been published in Creating Collaborative Advantage, Fisheries, Government Technology, Information & Management, Interfaces, and others.
