Position or Title Principal

Professional Biography I have decades of experience in research, teaching, and community-based natural resource management. I am able to work across disciplines and cultural boundaries.  I am a 10-year senior roster member of USIECR, a certified facilitator, and an effective stakeholder interviewer.  I ground my facilitation skills in 32 years of content expertise as an environmental scientist, ecologist, and sustainable development specialist.  I have 15 years experience facilitating workgroups, task forces, committees, and multi-cultural stakeholder gatherings on water resource management, watershed assessment, land use policy, community development, sustainable agriculture, and economic improvement.  I direct strategic planning and group consultations by effective design and facilitation of transparent, all-inclusive processes that seek common-ground, articulating and clarifying controversies and identifying strategies to advance agreement. My success is illustrated by selection of my Dauphin Island Sustainable Community Planning Project as a finalist in the IAP2 2009 Project of the Year Award (http://www.eeeee.net/project_of_year.htm). In my role of third-party, neutral I have designed multi-cultural alternative dispute resolution processes that regularly identified opportunities and strategies for solutions. My approach to any initiative or situation assessment relies upon sound science, while also addressing the political realities to strengthen the will of the parties in managing change.
