Professional Biography My ways of working are well suited to situations in which relationships are so strained that it’s difficult to imagine charting a course of collaborative action that could capture the energy of embattled stakeholders. I offer expertise in custom design rather than a particular “model.” I learn about stakeholders’ hopes, their strengths, and their experiences with “old, stuck conversations” and then I collaborate with a carefully composed planning group to design and facilitate meetings that avoid old patterns and open up new possibilities. My flexible, collaborative approach enables me to respond to emerging needs, not only from meeting to meeting, but also, through "emergent design," within meetings. I have conducted several skill-building workshops for the Quebec Labrador Foundation – Atlantic Center for the Environment. My experience includes, but is not limited to, working on environmental issues. I have worked on many divisive public issues that involve differences of world view and identity, e.g., abortion, sexual orientation, Jewish-Muslim relations, racial tensions, and consulted on several arts-based civic dialogues. I am co-author of a dialogue guide, "Fostering Dialogue Across Divides." With my colleagues at PCP, I conduct public trainings as well as customized trainings in meeting design and facilitation.
