Professional Biography Merrick Hoben is the Washington D.C. Regional Office Director for the Consensus Building Institute.Merrick has eight year of experience in the dispute resolution field, including conflict assessment, facilitation and mediation processes in both domestic and international projects.  His expertise in consensus building has focused on land use planning and natural resource management. His range of work encompasses community collaborative resource management training throughout the U.S. as well as international mediation, negotiation, and training experience in Latin America and the Middle East.  Additionally, Merrick’s bi-cultural and bi-lingual Spanish training and mediation experience has enabled him to work successfully with diverse populations on sensitive resource management issues.   Merrick is listed on the roster of conflict resolution professionals of the U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution and is Faculty Associate at the Lincoln Institute for Land Policy. He has completed the negotiation and mediation training of the Program on Negotiation at the Harvard Law School and is a Practitioner Associate, MIT-Harvard Public Disputes Program.Merrick’s educational accomplishments also include a BS in Environmental Science from the University of Vermont and a MS in Natural Resource Policy and Human Behavior from the University of Michigan.
