Professional Biography Martha Bean is a mediator and facilitator, and the principal of her firm Collaborative Focus, based in Seattle, Washington. She has clients and projects throughout the Northwest and the United States and characteristically works with multi-party, multi-interest groups. Originally trained as an environmental planner, Ms. Bean applies her skills and technical knowledge to mediation and to the facilitation of collaborative decision processes.  She has 26 years of experience managing environmental projects, mediation efforts, and collaborative processes. A hallmark of Ms. Bean’s work is exceptional design and implementation of multi-stakeholder workshops, meetings and processes that encourage lively, respectful, and productive discussion. Ms. Bean can be directive in her facilitation style, while concurrently staying  acutely aware when a free-flowing conversation – or even silence – will best allow participants find their own best results.
