Position or Title President

Professional Biography I see my role -- whether mediating, facilitating, training, or designing a process -- as promoting better decision-making. For me, this means paying attention to inclusion of all key parties, power balancing to insure effective participation, and clarity of purpose and authority of the process. Roles must be clear; the process must be accessible to all; there must be a willingness to learn from each other.    I am also committed to helping diversify the field in which I work, and have served as a mentor in many of my cases, working with community members, agency staff, or others interested in the field of dispute resolution, or simply wanting to gain some skills.   I am particularly interested in cross-cultural conflicts, and have worked extensively with tribal governments and communities and Hispanic communities in the southwest. Many cases involving land preservation, wilderness, or instream flow have a significant cultural component, as environmentalists clash with potential allies -- local rural people relying on the land and water resourcese for survival.
