Professional Biography I have a twenty year track record of developing successful collaborative plans and problem - solving processes and mediating complex disputes related to natural resources management. I recently completed a very contentious, scientifically complex hydropower relicensing negotiation involving four power projects. All twenty six disparate interest groups that worked with me signed the settlement agreement, including two utilities, the Yakama Nation, Cowlitz Tribe, many state, Federal and local agencies, as well as environmental and community groups. The common denominators of my career are: success in finding the balance between economic and environmental interests; familiarity with applicable regulations and processes; an activist use of my neutrality, energy and skill to craft the best possible collective outcome; a reliance on science teamed with a clarity about what science cannot do; and an engaged leadership style that stresses a fair and open process. I push forward and take risks with ideas, coaching, and trial balloons to assist disparate groups to work productively and produce good results. Past work as a public agency director with a staff of 780 gave me a hands on understanding of organizational behavior, strategic management skills, and a belief in public/private collaboration. My government experience helps me to be effective in dealing with political and bureaucratic situations and contributes to my ability to obtain lasting agreements
