Position or Title Senior Mediator / Facilitator

Professional Biography I've practiced in most corners of this field - assessment, process design, facilitation, negotiation, mediation, training, leadership development, coaching / mentoring, collaborative project management, strategic planning, visioning, collaborative public participation, etc. My strength is finding some combination of conflict intervention and / or collaborative skills to help people do the work they need to do together. I am comfortable with conflict and enjoy working with people to create outcomes they can feel proud of. I strive to bring both optimism and realism to my work.As a facilitator, I adapt to what a group needs, whether that be increased organization and order, space for exploratory conversation, specific interactions between groups, better definition of questions and options, or something else.  I do not have predetermined beliefs about how groups should function, such as an insistence on relationship building or insistence on dispassionate logic. I learn about the parties and assess how I can be most useful in helping them resolve their issue. Recently my policy focus has been water, including water quality, supply, conservation, flood protection, habitat restoration, and river parkway planning. However, my interests are broad. I enjoy projects that will make a substantive difference, and I'm a quick study.
