Professional Biography I have over 30 years of experience as an urban planner and policy analyst working in local and regional government agencies, universities, and consulting firms.  I started my own consulting firm in 2014 to concentrate on organizing and facilitating collaborative planning and decision-making processes for natural resource management and urban planning issues.My recent work includes organizing and conducting Joint Fact-Finding processes, Stakeholder Assessments, Feasibility Studies, Citizen Juries, and Collaborative Planning exercises.  My recent projects were based in Hawaii, Arizona, and American Samoa.  This work covered a very wide range of topics and subject areas, including agricultural pesticide usage impacts, marine spatial planning, non-commercial marine fishing regulations, feral horse management, a State Constitutional Convention ballot question, and urban neighborhood street festival regulation.  I also recently co-taught a course in Joint Fact Finding at the 2018 ACR Environment and Public Policy section conference in Washington, DC.I draw upon my extensive experience working with and within different governmental agencies, other public institutions, private sector interests, and communities to try to find common ground among diverse interests and avoid unnecessary conflict over divisive issues.  I also firmly believe there is a ‘wisdom of the crowd’ that can lead to practical and pragmatic solutions in many situations, if properly channeled.
