Professional Biography Ric Richardson is an associate professor at the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of New Mexcio (UNM). He is a senior associate with the Consensus Building Insitiute in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Public Disputes Program at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard University. In both organizations he provides training and professional services in connsensus building, mediating development disputes and resolving regulatory and land use disputes.Ric's professional expertise is in building consensus about allocating local resources and instituting regional water planning. He has also facilitated negotiations about proposed development projects, managed regulatory negotiations and designed strategic planning processes. He has more than 20 years experience as a facilitator and mediator in resolving community development, land use and environmental disputes. He has advised citizens, business leaders and government officials in face-to-face negotiations to achieve concensus on development initiatives and understanding the effects of land use changes.Ric has masters degrees in both architecture and urban studies from MIT and has published widely in citizen participation, regulatory negotiation and environmental dispute resolution. At UNM he teaches negotiation and public dispute resolution and has taught consensus building, facilitation skills and negotiation workshops for the City of Albuquerque, the State of New Mexico and the Consensus Building I
