Professional Biography Michael Harty is approaching 20 years of professional experience in the field of conflict resolution, first as a civil litigator and currently as a full-time mediator, facilitator, and trainer. His diverse legal experience representing Fortune 500 companies, private plaintiffs, and a national environmental advocacy group allows him to work easily with a wide range of parties in problem solving and settlement. Harty particularly enjoys working on natural resource issues including water quality,water rights, mining, ecosystem restoration and endangered species. He has direct experience with ocean policy, water right adjudication and allocation issues and with major federal environmental statutues and standards including NEPA, FLPMA, ESA, TSCA, CAA, CWA, CERCLA, and RCRA, and with California state law equivalents. He has worked successfully at multiple NPL sites. He also has worked with Native American tribes on multiple projects. Harty has also served as an outside evaluator of a complex ocean policy development process.
