Position or Title Principal

Professional Biography I have over two decades of experience in process design and facilitation and mediation.  My practice has included many interpersonal mediations, the training and supervision of volunteer mediators and the development of an environmental and public policy arm of the agency I head.  I have had substantial experience in the design and implementation of public participation processes.  All of my work is grounded in the principle that educated citizens have the right and the responsility to be involved in informing decision making.  As a facilitator and mediator, I involve parties in designing the process they will participate in as well as the content they discuss. I plan carefully and then remain flexible to the needs of those involved.  I frequently work with content experts and have experience assisting them in making scientific and technical information accessible to parties.  I have also been involved in helping members of a process gather information themselves. I understand that in many situations it is critical to keep the larger public informed because, no matter how many are at the "table" there are many others who are not participating directly.  I have designed a range of interactive and non-meeting opportunities for people to provide input as part of a larger process.
