Professional Biography My work focuses on designing, convening, facilitating, and mediating multi-party collaborative processes; performing situation assessments; and conducting strategic planning and policy analyses.  I also design and conduct professional training courses in the areas of effective collaborative process design, negotiation, meditation, and communication of scientific information.  In my projects, I combine a neutral approach with process and substantive expertise.  I pride myself on working effectively with a wide variety of stakeholder interests and in building creative, durable agreements (and relationships!).  I’ve worked with a broad range of federal agencies (including NOAA Fisheries, US Fish & Wildlife Service, US Bureau of Reclamation, US EPA, US Army Corps of Engineers) as well as numerous state and local resource management agencies and tribes. Recent projects range from marine protected area designation off the Pacific Coast and flood protection planning in California's Central Valley to developing a take reduction plan for pelagic fisheries along the Atlantic seaboard, and involve implementation of such federal statutes as the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Marine Mammal Protection Act.  I have published widely on the topic of environmental conflict resolution, including the 2004 book, Partnering for the Environment: Multistakeholder Collaboration in a Changing World.
