Professional Biography In my dual roles as a scholar and practitioner, I have convened and facilitated many public and private consensus building processes and events, and designed and taught courses related to my field of interest since 1982.  I have contributed to numerous public policy initiatives at all levels of government and have led many complex problem solving processes involving multi-stakeholder input in the natural resource sector, especially those involving intense resource access conflicts with indigenous people.  I have worked in over 110 indigenous communities and tribal organizations.  I bring a strong focused presence to my facilitation and consensus building work having successfully worked with groups that were previously, extremely adversarial. I believe in the importance of bridging theory to practice, within an action inquiry stance, this guides my professional and personal development. The environmental conflicts we face today are growing in complexity and often demand more than functional problem solving, they often ask the people around the table to adapt, they are challenged to develop new values and new perspectives on problem setting. These are the twin steeds of my approach to environmental conflict work, supporting people to grow while pragmatically working with them to solve problems together.
