Professional Biography My work as a consultant and in volunteer positions has been focused on facilitating resolution of environmental issues.  Many of these have been related to obtaining permits for specific projects, including preparation of environmental documents and managing a community education and involvement process. As chair of two state commissions, I was directly involved in appointing and leading committees that negotiated complex environmental issues related to water resources and land use in Oregon.  I was appointed by several Governors to ad hoc committees set up to resolve specific issues related to motor vehicles emissions, governance of the Columbia River, climate change, and growth management in the Portland metropolitan area.   My style as a facilitator is to remain the neutral interpreter and mover of the process, assuring that the right parties are at the table and that they have a safe place to work out their issues.  I make sure that the groups have all the facts they need.  I am not afraid to be very directive when needed, but my general style is to be a helper and urger rather than a dominator.
